Beyond Hold'em ("the app") is a poker training app made by Beyond Holdem, Inc. This policy explains what we collect and why. Short version: we collect the minimum needed to run the app, we don't sell your data, and there's no real-money gambling anywhere in the product.
What we collect
Account: if you create an account, your email address (used only for sign-in codes and account management). Accounts are optional — the app works without one.
Learning progress: XP, streaks, badges, trophies, lessons completed, and practice-hand decisions, stored locally on your device and — if you sign in — synced to our servers (hosted on Supabase) so your progress follows you across devices.
Usage analytics: product events (screens viewed, lessons completed, hands played) via PostHog and Mixpanel, used to improve the app. If you are signed out these events carry no identity. If you are signed in they are linked to your account, and your account ID and email address are sent to those providers so we can recognise the same person across devices and follow up on feedback. We do not send them your hand histories or anything you write.
Session recordings (web only): on play.beyondholdem.com we use Microsoft Clarity to record how pages are used — taps, clicks, scrolling and what appears on screen — so we can see where the app is confusing and fix it. Text you type is masked and never recorded. If you are signed in, recordings are linked to your account ID (never your email address). Microsoft processes this under its own privacy statement and sets its own cookies to tell visits apart. You can block it with a content blocker or by blocking third-party cookies; the app works the same either way. The iPhone and Android apps are not recorded.
Coaching: to generate coaching explanations, anonymized hand situations (cards and actions — never your email or identity) are processed by an AI service. Explanations are cached and shared across users.
Advertising measurement (web only): the website uses the Meta Pixel and Meta's Conversions API so we can tell whether our ads on Facebook and Instagram bring people to the app. Meta receives page visits, when onboarding finishes, and when a new account is created, along with Meta's own cookies (a browser ID and, if you arrived from one of our ads, an ad-click ID), your IP address and your browser type. When you create an account, Meta also receives a hashed (SHA-256) version of your email address and account ID so it can tell whether an ad led to the sign-up; the hash cannot be turned back into your address. We never send Meta your plain email address, your name, or anything about your play. Meta uses this under its own privacy policy. You can turn off ad personalisation in your Meta ad preferences, block third-party cookies, or use a content blocker; the app works the same either way. The iPhone and Android apps contain no Meta code.
What we don't do
No selling of personal data. The only data an advertiser receives is the advertising measurement described above, and it never includes your email address or identity.
No real-money gambling, deposits, or payouts — this is a training app.
No collection of contacts, location, photos, or anything beyond the list above.
Data deletion
You can delete your account and all synced data at any time inside the app (Profile → Delete account), or by emailing us. Local data can be cleared via Profile → Reset all progress or by uninstalling the app.
Deleting your account removes it from our own database immediately. Your record held by our analytics providers is deleted on request — email support@beyondholdem.com and we will remove it.
Service providers
We use Supabase (database & authentication), PostHog and Mixpanel (analytics), Microsoft Clarity (session recordings on the website), Anthropic (AI coaching text), and Meta (advertising measurement on the website). Each processes only the data described above.
Children
The app is intended for users 17 and older and is not directed at children.
